Memes are frequently built on images and video owned by others. Memefile presents them for commentary, criticism, education, and reference, with attribution and sourcing where possible, and we prefer transformative and user-generated media. We respect creators' rights and act quickly on valid removal requests.

Requesting a takedown

If you own the rights to material on this site and want it removed, email [email protected] with the following:

• The exact URL(s) on memefile.com where the material appears.
• A description of the copyrighted work and proof you own or represent the rights holder.
• Your contact information (name, email, and address).
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf.
• Your physical or electronic signature.

We aim to respond to complete notices within a few business days and will remove or disable access to material that is validly claimed.

Counter-notice

If you believe your content was removed in error (for example, it was fair use or you hold the rights), you may send a counter-notice to the same address with the URL, your contact information, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake, and your consent to jurisdiction.

Repeat infringers

We may remove content and restrict features for anyone who repeatedly submits infringing material.
