Primitive Sponge is a caveman version of SpongeBob that appears frozen and bewildered in a handful of episodes, sometimes labeled SpongeGar or Caveman SpongeBob by fans. The wide-eyed, hairy, slack-jawed figure was popularized as a reaction image around 2017. Fans distinguish several similar frames, though the names are often used interchangeably online. Its blank, primitive expression made it broadly useful.
